Annual Bonus Director of Systems Engineering & Cloud Engineering
Overview We are seeking a visionary technology leader to oversee our Systems Engineering team and spearhead our enterprise-wide cloud transformation. This role will lead a team of systems engineers while driving the migration of mission-critical infrastructure from on-premises to AWS and positioning the organization for the adoption of next-generation cloud-native services such as AWS Lambda and Amazon Aurora. The ideal candidate combines proven leadership with deep technical expertise across traditional infrastructure and modern cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical excellence. Own the architecture, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure across Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, networking (switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers), and SAN storage. Define and execute the on-prem to AWS cloud migration strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. Drive cloud-native adoption, including the design and rollout of serverless architectures (AWS Lambda) and cloud-native database solutions (Amazon Aurora). Establish best practices for infrastructure as code, automation, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines to support modern applications. Partner with IT leadership, DevOps, and Security to align infrastructure capabilities with business goals, with an emphasis on modernization. Oversee infrastructure operations, performance, and reliability, while implementing proactive monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery strategies. Evaluate emerging AWS services and technologies to continually optimize infrastructure performance and cost. Build strong cross-functional relationships with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade solutions. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven track record leading systems engineering teams in complex enterprise environments. Strong expertise in Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, networking, storage, and security technologies. Hands-on experience architecting and executing AWS cloud migrations. Familiarity with serverless and database modernization concepts, including AWS Lambda and Amazon Aurora. Deep understanding of infrastructure as code, automation, monitoring, and cloud-native services. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence both technical teams and executive stakeholders. Preferred Skills AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps, or DevOps Engineer). Experience migrating from SQL Server to Aurora (or other RDS services). Background in designing and supporting event-driven, serverless applications. Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, HIPAA, etc.).
