Director of Business Development

to lead all aspects of business growth, from driving pipeline and revenue to strengthening client relationships and market positioning. This senior leadership role will manage and mentor a dedicated team, overseeing proposals, marketing initiatives, and strategic improvements to ensure sustainable growth and customer success. If you are a proven leader with deep tolling/transportation industry experience, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to inspire high-performing teams, this is an excellent opportunity to make a measurable impact. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Insight

– Drive strategic projects, providing insights that translate into actionable business outcomes. Maintain oversight of business development activities to ensure alignment with company strategy. Lead bid activities with a focus on continuous improvement. Team Management

– Mentor and guide Business Development professionals, including Proposal Managers and Writers. Support business units in identifying and developing new technologies, programs, and services. Align team goals with the wider strategic objectives of the organization. Relationship & Network Management

– Develop and strengthen relationships with customers, partners, and industry consultants. Oversee consultant engagement to maximize stakeholder relationships. Proposal Management

– Ensure resources are effectively assigned and managed for proposals. Oversee proposal schedules, deliverables, and compliance with RFP requirements. Conduct quality and compliance reviews to ensure compelling, winning submissions. Represent the company at industry events and conferences, promoting solutions and services. Build brand awareness and expand networks across the transportation/tolling industry. Apply competitive analysis and market insights to inform growth strategies. Budget Oversight

– Manage the Business Development budget with accountability for resource allocation and investment. Review financial and performance data to guide decision-making and maximize ROI. Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred). Minimum of 7 years’ experience in business development, with significant leadership exposure in the transportation/tolling or ITS sector. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft 365, and data analysis tools. Strong financial acumen, with proven budget management and forecasting experience. Advanced relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. Expertise in sales strategy, negotiation, and closing complex deals. Skilled in strategic planning and execution.
