Homelessness Resolution Navigator
The Homelessness Resolution Navigator, based in the Department of Community Safety & Well-Being and the Crossroads Community Center, provides field-based outreach and navigation services to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in unincorporated Adams County and neighboring municipalities. This includes crisis intervention, survival gear distribution, shelter and service referrals, and transportation supportall aimed at helping individuals transition to stable housing. Working as part of a larger interagency team, the Navigator supports countywide efforts in homelessness prevention, service coordination, and housing access. The role requires balancing compassionate, client-centered outreach with professional communication and collaboration with decision-makers. This grant-funded position, supported through the Transformational Homelessness Response Grant, runs through September 30, 2026. Peer Support Specialist certification is available upon completion of required training. Nights / weekends may occasionally be necessary for community engagement. Examples of Duties for Success
Act as a subject matter expert in navigating housing, employment, and benefit systems for low-income and underserved populations, including coaching residents through forms and paperwork. Build trust-based relationships with residents, empowering them to take steps toward ending their homelessness, while knowing when to refer to other services outside the program's scope. Serve as the main point of contact for individuals experiencing homelessness in unincorporated Adams County, including managing drop-in hours and distributing outreach gear (e.g., tents, gloves, hand warmers). Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and the Adams County Street Outreach Network to coordinate services, respond to encampments and hotspots, and collect feedback on overlooked issues. Use evidence-based approaches such as trauma-informed care, low-barrier services, harm reduction, de-escalation, and Housing First to engage and support residents. Advocate for both individual needs and broader systems-level changes that benefit people experiencing homelessness. Enter and maintain accurate case notes and data in the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS); support broader outreach initiatives, proposals, and projects as needed. Demonstrate strong organizational, scheduling, and project management skills; plan and supervise varied activities within policy and budget guidelines. Exhibit professionalism, ethical behavior, and sound judgment when addressing challenges, resolving issues, and adapting to urgent needs or shifting priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Lived Experience Personal experience with incarceration, substance use, behavioral health concerns, poverty, homelessness, or intersectionality. Lived experience in the Denver Metro Area preferred. Actively pursuing wellness, recovery, and/or resiliency. Commitment to stigma reduction and a passion for serving people experiencing homelessness. Desire to pursue personal and professional development, including Peer Support Specialist Certification. Compassionate Problem-Solver Approaches challenges with professionalism, integrity, cultural humility, and resilience. Demonstrates professionalism and tact in sensitive situations. Upholds and models healthy boundaries with colleagues and clients. Commitment to serving individuals while understanding systemic barriers and the larger homelessness and housing system. More Qualifications for Success Lived Experience: Lived experience may include involvement with the justice system, incarceration, poverty, homelessness, and/or behavioral health challenges. Up to one (1) year of combined experience may be credited for demonstrated lived experience. Professional Experience: One (1) year outreach experience with homeless population preferred. Justice involvement, homelessness, or experience in receiving public benefits would substitute for professional experience. Minimum three years released from supervision. Preference to those with direct work or volunteering with historically marginalized population. Academic Experience: None required. Up to one (1) year towards combined experience for earned credits in higher education on a semester* basis of full-time enrollment. *One semester equals six (6) months; two (2) semesters equal one (1) year. License or Certificate: None. Employees would be required to transport themselves between Crossroads Community Center and the Government Center locations using their own form of transportation, i.e. personal vehicle, ride share, bike, walking or other form of transportation. Background Check: Criminal background check is required. Any petty crimes or crimes that are older than two (2) years should not be an automatic disqualifier during background checks.
