Since 1988, the Gurwin Healthcare System has been a leader in senior care on Long Island, offering a full continuum of services. The 460-bed Gurwin Center provides long-term care, short-term rehab, ventilator and respiratory support, an Advanced Care Unit, a 60-bed Memory Care Unit, palliative and hospice services, adult day care, and on-site dialysis. Expanding eastward, Island Nursing & Rehab Center in Holtsville adds 120 skilled nursing beds. The system also includes the 210-bed Gurwin Jewish Fay J. Lindner Residences assisted living community, two Home Care programs, and Fountaingate Gardens, a 129-unit independent Life Plan Community. Part-time Development Assistant
to support our Foundation department. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage administrative tasks to support fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and community outreach. The hours will be Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm (occasional event support 3-4 times per year) with the potential to lead to a full-time position. Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to: Development / Fundraising Support: Accurately enter all donations and in-kind gifts into donor database (willing to train). Generate and mail donor acknowledgement letters in a timely manner. Prepare billing for outstanding pledges. Process all donations and validate online contributions. Send monthly donation and deposit backup reports to Finance. Track grant-related activities, ensuring reporting deadlines and milestones are met. Assist with special events, including entering donations, sending acknowledgements, and providing on-site event support. Other support as necessary Administrative & Office Management: Answer phones, take and relay messages, and greet/direct visitors. Order office supplies and maintain inventory for the department. Provide general administrative support to the Foundation team. Handle check requests and billing from initiation to completion. Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum 2 years in a development, fundraising, or marketing support role preferred. Education:
Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred. Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Raisers Edge or a similar donor management system, a plus. Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools is a plus. Core Competencies: Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across departments. Professional demeanor with a strong customer service orientation. Benefits
