Job Opportunity At Caswell Developmental Center

This position is mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. Recruiting for multiple positions. This Health Care Technician I position provides direct care to developmentally disabled individuals. As our individuals age, we recognize their needs, and focus on providing services to enhance their quality of life in a caring home-like environment. We provide treatment with dignity and respect, offering choices and options that support individuality. The person in this position will care for adults who are medically fragile and have significant intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. Job responsibilities include the following: Assuring the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals Implementation of clients' habilitation and training skills Assistance with personal care Home living, socialization, leisure, and safety of individual Assistance and teaching daily living and other skills Assistance in classroom and other/training areas Transportation of clients to activities, classes, and appointments Shopping with and for individuals Assistance in providing emergency treatment for seizures or accidents, etc.; housekeeping chores as specified Record keeping and documentation As a center operating 24 hours each day, 7 days each week, employees may work rotating, fixed or split shifts, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following: A valid driver's license Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and others Ability to maintain a professional and even-tempered demeanor and work relationships Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques Ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature to provide adequate supervision of the assigned population in the home.
