Due to expansion in the greater New York area, our client is excited to add an
Electrical Estimator Project Manager
to their corporate team in Brooklyn. About the Role: This is a highly technical, hands-on sales estimating role responsible for managing the entire bid-to-buy cycle for custom switchgear projects from reviewing construction drawings to pricing, vendor negotiation, quote preparation, and project coordination after a project is awarded.
Youll work closely with vendors like Schneider Electric and ABB, collaborating with our internal sales, shipping, and management teams. This role demands someone highly organized, responsive, and confident navigating fast-paced, high-value commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities: Review bid specifications, electrical drawings, and project plans to determine switchgear and related material requirements
Liaise with multiple vendors to source, price, and negotiate optimal terms
Build accurate, competitive, and timely bid proposals for contractors bidding on major commercial electrical projects
Own the bid process end-to-end manage pricing, quote assembly, documentation, and delivery deadlines
Coordinate internally with sales, shipping receiving, and upper management to align on logistics, approvals, and customer requirements
Manage BOM (bill of materials) creation and project material lists
After project award, oversee project coordination: ensuring timely equipment delivery, troubleshooting issues, and serving as a client point of contact
Delegate data entry tasks (line-item inputs, documentation uploads) to support resources as needed
Maintain strong professional relationships with both vendors and high-value commercial electrical contractor clients Requirements: 5+ years of experience in switchgear estimating or technical project coordination within an electrical distributor environment
In-depth knowledge of electrical switchgear products and commercial electrical systems
Familiarity with Schneider, Eaton, ABB, Siemens, or similar vendor quoting platforms preferred Demonstrated ability to review and interpret commercial electrical drawings and project specifications
Highly organized, detail-driven, and capable of juggling multiple large, complex bids at once
Excellent communication skills phone, email, and text; must be proactive and highly responsive
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Experience working across multiple departments including upper management, sales teams, and shipping/logistics
Experience with NetSuite ERP preferred
Must be comfortable working onsite, full-time, in the Brooklyn office
