Senior Medical Assistant
The Senior Medical Assistant provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services, exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties. Responsibilities include scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests, acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are vital. Exceptional compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are necessary. As a member of the physician practice team, this position acts as a professional liaison with patients, families, and other departments. This position also functions as a key member of the clinical care team during clinic hours in the role of medical assistant by rooming patients, taking vital signs including patient weights, documenting these in Epic, drawing blood (phlebotomy), retrieving and reviewing patients' medication lists, assisting in minor office procedures, and by monitoring and improving overall patient flow in the clinic. This individual performs responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, demonstrating all service excellence commitments. This individual will partner in the orientation and training of new staff. These responsibilities are often carried out simultaneously with frequent interruption. In addition, this job may include other special project assignments as directed. All duties accomplished with an exceptional customer service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the patient's experience in the Swedish system. Required qualifications: Graduate of certified medical assistant program Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Certification Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association 1 year medical assistant experience in a healthcare setting required (i.e. physician's office, scheduler, etc.) Preferred qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations Experience with Epic
