Software Engineer III

This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. As a Software Engineer III in Enterprise Technology, you will bring your perspective to aerospace applications of engineering design, manufacturing, supply chain, mission operations, or customer experience. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist in the design and development of reliable software systems and platforms, collaborating with your team to ensure quality implementation and integration. Contribute to the development and maintenance of specific services and components, supporting their architecture and scalable implementation. Help in designing and developing efficient database schemas, focusing on performance, scalability, and data integrity for both SQL and NoSQL databases. Work with software teams to identify areas for improvement and assist in streamlining processes. Support junior team members and participate in a collaborative learning environment. Minimum Qualifications: At least 5+ years of relevant experience writing software and deploying it to production environments. Proficiency in at least one typed (such as Java or C) and one untyped language (such as Python or JavaScript). Basic understanding of microservices architecture and familiarity with containerization practices. Solid understanding of computer science principles like algorithms and data structures. Ability to write efficient code to solve problems, even with limited or unclear requirements. Good written and verbal communication skills, capable of discussing complex systems with expansive audiences. Eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies as projects evolve. Willingness to mentor and learn from peers, contributing to design and code reviews. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must meet necessary work authorization requirements as outlined. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: Exposure to deploying applications on container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Some experience with designing and working on systems with asynchronous APIs and using message brokers. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their services for deployment and scaling. Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to assist in production deployments. Awareness of monitoring and logging practices to help maintain system performance. Understanding of security practices for software deployment in distributed environments.
