Software Engineer - New Glenn, AI & Robotics
Washington Staffing, Seattle, Washington, us, 98127
Join Blue Origin's Ai & Test Software Team
Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers on the AI & Test software team, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of design, development, and testing of intelligent robotic systems used across Blue Origin's mission operations. You will frequently engage with other development teams from Avionics, Flight Operations, Ground Integration, Engines, and Lunar. Every day, you will innovate to build the frameworks and tools needed to integrate AI-driven solutions that integrate with cyber-physical systems. Your expertise will directly contribute to building autonomous platforms, robotic workflows, and intelligent tooling we need to advance space exploration! For this specific role, your day-to-day activities will focus on developing next-generation AI and software solutions, implementing perception and localization systems, and integrating intelligent robotic hardware with mission-critical software systems. As a member of the software team, you will have input into the architecture and designs, implement and test required features, and help verify all requirements have been met. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Developing and implementing software solutions using AI. Building perception and localization algorithms for autonomous systems Integrating LLMs with robotic platforms for intelligent decision-making Supporting real-time robotic operations on Linux-based systems Developing software solutions using kinematic modeling and control systems Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in engineering, computer science, or robotics 2+ years of experience with AI development and robotics systems Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages Experience with ROS/ROS2 framework or other robotic system development Familiarity of kinematics and robotic control principles Experience with real-time Linux systems Familiarity with LLM usage and integration Proficiency with configuration languages: XML, YAML, and JSON Strong software development skills and debugging capabilities Deep understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of perception algorithms and localization techniques Experience with LLM integration Familiarity with robotic hardware: GPUs, Jetsons, Lidar, Cameras, or PLCs Experience with robotic configuration languages: SDF, URDF, SRDF, or Xacro Knowledge of automation frameworks and DevOps systems Experience with cloud infrastructure Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $148,014.00-$207,218.55 Other site ranges may differ Culture Statement: Don't meet all desired requirements? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification. At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building an authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every desired qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
