The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority is seeking a Business Systems Analyst 2. The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) solicits, understands, and documents the customer's business requirements, processes and workflows on small-to-medium sized projects and initiatives with minimal oversight. This individual either works independently or partners with senior team members to work with developers to further elaborate the business requirements into functional and system requirements, serves as a subject matter expert to the developers building and/or configuring those functions, supports the QA team testing the developed/configured functionality, and coordinates user acceptance testing as needed. This role works closely with other BSAs, developers, testers, and production support through each stage of the software development lifecycle and demonstrates both existing and new functionality to the customer stakeholders. Areas of Responsibility: Takes ownership of assignments to identify, manage and complete all BSA activities (tasks and deliverables, requirements, diagrams, system documentation) required to ensure that the effort is a success and that the necessary materials and communication have occurred to properly maintain any implemented new or changed system functionality. Conducts gap analysis to identify differences between the current and to-be states of business processes and system functionality. Elicits and documents business requirements, business processes, and workflows. Partners with technical and quality assurance resources to ensure that requirements are implemented and tested per the acceptance criteria. Employ strategic thinking to understand how proposals, problems, and opportunities impact long term divisional and organizational goals. Identify and understand business problems and the impact of the proposed solution on the organization. Actively engages stakeholders throughout the systems development lifecycle to support participation through discovery and execution. Minimum Qualifications: Experience as a junior business systems analyst, business analyst or systems analyst or equivalent work in a different role. Preferred Qualifications: Full Systems Development Lifecycle experience Experience working on software implementation projects Previous use of JIRA to manage tasks, epics and user stories At least two years' prior experience as a junior business systems analyst, business analyst or systems analyst or equivalent work in a different role.
