Network Engineer IV
This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future. As a Network Engineer IV at Spectrum, you will be responsible for designing and developing corporate network standards, enhancements, and network architecture critical to our business of keeping millions connected. What Our Network Engineer IV Enjoy The Most Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation Represent the engineering department working closely with architects and engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies Become a trusted partner of our engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow Troubleshoot and resolves major network and system issues Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget Lead staff effortsmentor and train other engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business Test and validate all new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance What You'll Bring To Spectrum Required Qualifications Experience: Six (6+) years of data network experience Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience Technical Skills: Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport) Extensive knowledge of industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model, using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, basic network devices and basic network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio Skills and Abilities: Extensive knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced team environment, and learn new technology quickly Ability to use personal computer and software applications, Microsoft Office, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator Working Conditions: 24x7 Network Operations environment Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job May work in Network Lab environment Occasional travel as required Preferred Qualifications Education: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP) Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.) Skills: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Knowledge of company products and services Hands on experience working with 5G 3GPP standards Good knowledge of cellular (5G) PHY/MAC and upper layers along with a strong understanding of RF principles Familiarity with 3GPP protocol standards, 5G SA call flows, Mobile Communications, Communication Theory, protocols (RTP/TCP/UDP/IP) Understanding of cellular network planning concepts, including link budget and network capacity Exposure to network planning, measurement and optimization tools such as Wireshark, Netscout and Spirent Engineer, implement, and deploy 3GPP core network elements such as 5G SA Core (AMF, UPF, SMF, SEPP) Work closely with Solutions Architects to translate high-level designs into detailed engineering plans and configurations Implement virtualized (VNFs) and cloud-native (CNFs) core network functions on various platforms (e.g., KVM, VMware, Kubernetes/OpenShift) Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot complex technical issues, working closely with vendors and internal teams for resolution Support network trials and proof-of-concepts (PoCs) Provide expert-level support for operational issues, including incident resolution and root cause analysis Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including configuration guides, MOPs (Method of Procedure) In-depth knowledge in areas of specific Wireless/System applications such as Authorization, Authentication, and Accounting (AAA); test, and working knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, etc Experience working with Containerization services such as Docker, Kubernetes Working experience with on-prem and cloud environments Experience working with developing monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog and Splunk Working experience with yaml, json and xml Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio and Lucid Strong Background with CI/CD pipelines Telecom working experience System administration certifications (Linux+, Kubernetes, Docker, Splunk, RedHat, AWS) Knowledge of company products and services Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-based systems Intermediate-level experience with Terraform & Ansible for infrastructure as code (IaC) Spectrum Connects You To More Dynamic Growth Learning Culture Innovation Supportive Teams Total Rewards The base pay for this position generally is between $88,330.00 and $156,530.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
