Network Engineer IV - Security

As a Network Engineer IV - Security at Spectrum, you will be responsible for designing and developing corporate network standards, enhancements, and network architecture critical to our business of keeping millions connected. How You'll Make an Impact Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the local/wide area network infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission critical business systems Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation Represent the engineering department working closely with architects and engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies Become a trusted partner of our engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow Troubleshoot and resolves major network and system issues Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget Lead staff effortsmentor and train other engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business Test and validate all new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance Working Conditions 24x7 Network Operations environment. Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job. May work in Network Lab environment Occasional travel as required What You'll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience Experience 6+ years of work experience Skills Ability to read, write and speak the English language Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport) Extensive knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols Extensive knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model, using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, basic network devices and basic network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced team environment, and learn new technology quickly Ability to use personal computer and software applications, Microsoft Office, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator Preferred Qualifications Education Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP) Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.) Skills Knowledge of Spectrum's products and services Works with the Network Security team to implement effective vulnerability management Works with technical organization to implement effective mitigation processes Coordinates with the technical teams to implement security counter-measures Understands and initiates effective lifecycle management, compliance and patching processes for Charter infrastructure, to ensure Charter's network is at reduced risk for attack exploits Analyzes and provides recommendations for process improvement to detect and mitigate security threats Strong working knowledge of how to monitor, document and mitigate Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) threats across multiple technology vendors Understanding of how to monitor the network for intrusions and threats, and the measures necessary to prevent them Proactively identifies threats, and provides recommendations for mitigation Works with penetration test teams to provide access to systems and identify threats Provides feedback to cybersecurity teams for the improvement of existing systems Spectrum Connects You To More Dynamic Growth Learning Culture Innovation Supportive Teams Total Rewards The base pay for this position generally is between $88,330.00 and $156,530.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
