Job Title

The role of the Buyer will be: Work with the Senior Purchasing Buyer and Management Team to purchase and negotiate a variety of materials and services to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing at the least cost while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. Explore markets for material requirements to ensure high quality while holding costs within reasonable limits. Promote and support all company policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, health, and environmental standards. Solicit, gather, and summarize quotations; evaluate and help select vendors for cost-effective purchasing of inventory, raw material, and supplies. Manage time and resources accordingly. Enter purchase orders, support the purchasing system for manufacturing, shipping, quality, and office supplies to ensure adequate inventories and supplies. Monitor costs and explore methods of cost savings while maintaining quality and lead-time requirements. Resolve problems with auditing and accounts payable regarding purchase orders. Enter, maintain, and monitor the vendor and supplier information. Work with and support Senior Purchasing Buyer on plant, project, and corporate-based objectives. Develop professional working relationships with our key suppliers. Respond quickly to urgent needs such as un-forecasted customer demand or emergency requirement from a customer. Monitor raw material inventory levels and work with the team to maximize inventory turnover or minimize raw material inventory while maintaining appropriate customer on-time delivery. Assist with establishing and maintaining Service Center/Finish Goods Inventory turns by working closely with Sales. Use sales history, current orders, and projected sales to make sound decisions. Work with the team to replenish stock orders that support future customer demand; maintain current MRP/business system data. Assist in resolving claims with suppliers. Analyze order demand variability and trends; evaluate opportunities to utilize statistical tools for inventory planning and replenishment. Recommend and manage the processes and procedures for analyzing sales demand data, trends, and projected finished goods inventory developments for domestic service centers. Provide management with timely reports recommending changes in inventory levels and items. Other projects/duties as required. Education: Associate degree in Business or equivalent education & experience (R), B.S. in Business or related field (P) Experience: 1-3 years' experience in a Purchasing / Buyer role or related field (R), 3+ years in a technical, supervisory, or managerial role (P) Areas of Knowledge: Purchasing (R), Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Etc.)
