Detroit, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role. Job Description
The Controls Engineer leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of machinery and automation for use in manufacturing. Applications are sophisticated, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts. Responsibilities Designs electrical drawings, ladder logic, HMI programs and integrate Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation. Works with equipment suppliers and ensures compliance with AAM equipment specifications. Works with equipment design team and provides recommendations on equipment design and integration. Works with contractors and is responsible for the electrical installation portion of equipment. Supports plant maintenance and controls teams. Collaborates with and mentors less experienced team members and students. Understands safety in manufacturing environments and how it applies to controls design. Understands and ensures alignment with NFPA & OSHA regulations. All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Education
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field, Trade School, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of relevant experience in a controls engineering position. Experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Control Logix, Servo Controllers, HMI products and software. Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fluid power systems, and robot integration and programming. Advanced technical troubleshooting skills.
