Senior Fund Accountant - Boston - Financial Services
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Fund Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in fund accounting within the Private Equity or Private Credit space. This individual will be responsible for the accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and analysis of assigned investment funds. The role requires a strong understanding of fund structures, investment operations, and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements, capital account statements, and investor reporting packages.
- Maintain the general ledger for private equity/credit funds, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and tracking capital activity.
- Process capital calls, distributions, and management fees in accordance with fund agreements.
- Ensure accurate valuation of portfolio investments in compliance with accounting policies and fair value standards.
- Liaise with fund administrators, auditors, tax professionals, and custodians to support financial reporting, audits, and tax filings.
- Assist with year-end audit processes and investor queries.
- Participate in system implementations and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the onboarding of new funds, including setup of accounting records and coordination with service providers.
- Stay informed of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and evolving fund structures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of fund accounting experience, preferably within Private Equity or Private Credit.
- Strong understanding of fund structures, capital account maintenance, and investment transactions.
- Experience with fund accounting systems (e.g., Investran, eFront, Allvue, or similar) is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP and fair value accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
