Position: Data Analyst / BI Analyst Location: Boston, MA - 100% Remote Duration: Multi Year Renewable Contract Hours: 35 Hours per week

Overview: This position will have a unique opportunity to analyze issues related to homelessness prevention and solution and to provide recommendations to senior leaders within the administration. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the analyst will have an immediate opportunity to shape housing policy, homelessness program design, and citywide strategies that will improve the lives of Bostonians and shape the future of Boston's neighborhoods.

Responsibilities: Leads data analysis and reporting for MOH's homelessness and homelessness prevention programs and initiatives; Conducts population-level analyses using the City's Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) to build knowledge on homelessness in Boston; Designs, builds and maintains analytical dashboards that assist in the management, oversight, and evaluation of City-funded homelessness initiatives; Maintains and enhances existing analytical tools related to eviction monitoring and eviction prevention efforts; Develops stand-alone reports, dashboards, presentations, and written summaries to deliver actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders; Responds to ad-hoc data and informational requests from City leadership, members of the media, and other key internal and external stakeholders; Serves as a member on formal and informal working groups pertaining to data quality, HMIS, performance monitoring, and other relevant topics; Collaborates with outside organizations in data analysis activities that result from integrated data sharing agreements or shared research goals; Performs related work as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, statistics, urban planning, social work, computer science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred but not required. Relevant certifications may be substituted for formal education. At least two (2) years of professional experience in data analysis, research, program evaluation, or related work. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of required experience. Demonstrated experience working with large datasets, including cleaning, transforming, analyzing, and summarizing data. Familiarity with SQL, with the ability to write queries to extract, filtering, joining, and summarizing data from relational databases. Experience developing reports, dashboards, or data visualizations using tools such as Apache Superset, Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, or similar platforms. Experience in using programming languages such as R, Python, or Stata is preferred but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, work independently, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
