We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to replace the previous QM, who was recently promoted to our Director of Quality. In this role, you will lead and manage all aspects of the quality management system in a dynamic sheet metal contract manufacturing environment. This role will oversee quality control, quality assurance, supplier quality, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach, and proven experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing setting.
In this role, you will manage a team of about five quality professionals (document control, inspectors). You must be able to speak English and Spanish fluently to be considered.

Job Details
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements
Lead the quality inspection team, ensuring effective in-process, first-article, and final inspections of sheet metal parts and assemblies
Monitor and improve product quality, yield, and consistency across fabrication, welding, finishing, and assembly processes
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and customer-reported issues
Manage and prepare for internal, customer, and third-party audits
Oversee the creation and accuracy of quality documentation, including inspection records, material certifications, and nonconformance reports
Lead supplier quality management, including supplier audits and incoming material inspections
Work closely with engineering, production, and operations to ensure manufacturability and quality requirements are met
Train and mentor quality staff and production teams on quality standards, tools, and best practices
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality methodologies
Report on key quality metrics and present to leadership on performance, trends, and improvement plans
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
5-10 years of quality experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience maintaining and auditing Quality Management Systems
Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly quality processes is highly preferred
Proficient in GD&T, blueprint reading, and the use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
Familiar with quality tools and methodologies: FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, 8D, and CAPA
Experience conducting and supporting internal, customer, and third-party audits
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality software systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus
ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
