Summary:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the planning, priority setting, coordination and evaluation of programs of patient care for designated patient populations. The Nurse Manager facilitates collegial relationships between care teams. The Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for the management of fiscal and material resources. Abiding by Sisters Hospital Mission and Values, the Nurse Manager has 24 hour accountability and responsibility for the human resource and outcome management for designated patient populations. The Nurse Manager supports, plans, implements, and evaluates the goals and policies of Sisters Hospital and the Catholic Health System.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

BSN required

Masters preferred

Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing

Current registration as a licensed professional Nurse in New York State

National certification as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Executive required within one year of hire

BLS and NRP current

EXPERIENCE

Three (3) to five (5) years current experience with demonstrated competence as a Registered Nurse in performing and managing patient care in a post partum/antepartum, GYN, and newborn nursery unit

Leadership/management experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Demonstrates leadership ability and managerial competency; evidenced by: effective communication skills, conflict mediation skills, ability to develop and articulate vision for program of care, and effective resource procurement and allocation

Ability to mentor others in leadership roles,

Experience with fiscal management

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to coordinate the activities of others

Able to use computer and other office equipment as necessary

Serves as technical expert to group of peers

Knowledge of budget and fiduciary responsibility

Able to maximize influence and control for an optimal patient and family experience effecting outstanding patient satisfaction results

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal heat, light space, typical of most office jobs

Frequent exposure to one or more unpleasant physical conditions such as noise, noxious odors, potentially threatening abusive clients and communicable diseases

Occasional exposure to hazardous materials
