General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority and safe behaviors are practiced in all duties.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; acknowledge fellow Associates per company programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed—register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly greeting; say thank you at checkout.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to service calls; escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and maintenance to keep the store, restrooms, and high-touch areas clean.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention processes and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty as a Ross representative.
  • Follow MOS policies and manage disposals with Store Leadership review.
  • Adhere to cash handling, POS, and refund procedures; maintain accuracy in tender handling.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50 per hour. Benefits include various insurance programs, retirement plans, store discounts, and other eligibility-based benefits. Some roles may be eligible for bonuses based on performance.
