Job Summary

Supports the day-to-day operations of the Warehouse by providing delivery and warehouse services. Delivers materials to customer sites or branch locations. Maintains vehicles and schedules required inspections. Keeps a clean vehicle, maintains daily driver logs and vehicle inspection reports. Completes truck summaries and driver logs daily. Loads and unloads material and provides exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provides delivery of material to Border States branches and customer sites based on business needs.
  • Maintains delivery vehicle in clean, good working condition and monitors maintenance and mileage data as required.
  • Coordinates regular maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, as appropriate.
  • Schedules DOT/state mandated inspection visits, as required.
  • Maintains daily driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets.
  • Completes truck summaries and driver logs daily, tracks truck expenses and updates records as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal traffic and safety regulations.
  • Understands truck routes and may coordinate deliveries with our own trucks, assigned freight companies or other carriers based on special requests or best shipping method.
  • Loads and unloads material at branches and customer locations.
  • May perform warehouse functions including order filling, stocking shelves, processing returns, receiving and shipping, as needed.

Non-essential Functions

  • Performs/assists with other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • May conduct Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as part of daily route.
  • Checks and packs material to be delivered.
  • Maintains shipping equipment and keeps work area clean and safe.
  • Assists the City Desk and Will Call areas with customer service tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

  • Two years of work experience preferred.
  • Prior warehouse distribution experience including forklift operation and knowledge of electrical products/systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles is required.
  • Current medical certification is required.
  • Clean driving record is essential.
  • Working knowledge of PC for Windows; SAP experience is a plus.

  • Ability to perform all aspects of the job accurately and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills: competent, accurate, responsive and engaged.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry requirements by weight and frequency: occasionally 0–33%, frequently 34–66%, continuously 67–100%.
  • Lift from floor to waist: up to 100 lbs occasionally; specify exact subcategories as needed.
  • Above waist lift: up to 50 lbs occasionally; higher lifts may be limited.
  • Unilateral Carry: up to 50 lbs occasionally; Bilateral Carry: up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequency of physical activities (sitting, standing, walking, bending, crawling, climbing stairs, reaching, etc.) varies by day and task.
  • Exposure to adverse weather and temperature conditions: frequently; travel: not applicable or as required.
