Primary Purpose Of The Role

Designer is responsible for setting up designs for production. They will work directly with pre-press for trapping and plate separation. This role supports style guide driven packaging design, collaborates with Creative Services and design for image creation as needed, and helps maintain our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.

Essential Job Duties

  • Learn about flexographic printing processes such as ink capabilities, file preparation, color separations and trapping.
  • Knowledge of Mac OS systems and Adobe Creative Suite programs, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of package design.
  • Understand basic industry terminology for CMYK, Pantone and Spot color usage.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM), Brandfolder.
  • Develop designs that can be placed on production templates and align with customer style guides and expectations for pre-press.
  • Support and design style guide driven packaging for production and Marketing development.
  • Collaborate with the design team to address production problems.
  • Support the Pre-Production Manager with other required tasks.
  • Create 3D images for displays and retail concepts.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple project requests daily and meet due dates consistently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Design and illustration skills are a plus.
  • Strong interest in understanding Flexography printing processes.
  • Strong knowledge in trapping, color separations, and Pantone/Spot/Process color usage.
  • Well-versed in design layout and ensuring artwork is functional for final approvals.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized; able to multi-task and work under pressure with time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to adapt quickly and make critical decisions with artwork.
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage projects collaboratively in a fast-moving department.
  • Minimum 2-year Associate Degree in Commercial Art; 4-year BFA Commercial Art preferred.
