Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for assisting with all employee benefit programs, including FMLA and Leave cases, monthly benefit audits, and open enrollment. In addition to benefit responsibilities, this role provides support in key HR functions such as onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Human Resources department.

Work Schedule

WORK SCHEDULE: The Human Resources Specialist is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends, as needed.

Key Functions and Duties

  • Supports in areas of employee benefits, FMLA, and employee programs.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and processes qualifying life events.
  • Responds to all benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plans as well as other general inquiries.
  • Assists with open enrollment process.
  • Assists with leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Helps maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations by supporting audits and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Participates in employee engagement activities and HR projects as needed.
  • Serves as a backup to perform new hire orientation, recruiting and safety related matters.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
  • 2+ years of employee benefit experience; experience supporting other HR functions a plus.
  • Solid understanding of employment law and HR Practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to FMLA, ADA, and Leave.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with ATS and HRIS systems.
  • Physical requirements also include the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
