Travel regularly to frontline locations to assess workplace climate, coach leaders, and build rapport with employees Promote fairness, engagement, and issue resolution through proactive field presence and employee relations programs Advise leaders on positive relations strategies and tactics, conduct investigations, and resolve issues driving employee discontent Design and execute site-specific union avoidance strategies, including messaging and risk assessments, to maintain a positive and union-free work environment Develop and deliver interactive training tools for HR leaders and field operations that reinforce trust, compliance, and a “Better Together” culture Balance between projects and crisis response as a critical component for success in the position Communicate effectively with senior leaders and frontline employees and promptly produce written communications that summarize issues with recommended solutions and design and deliver effective training sessions Collaborate with and influence field operations leaders, human resources, and employees to analyze feedback, identify risks, create and sustain positive workplace relations programs, and design training that drives Best Practices in support of the company culture Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Labor Relations, Management, Business or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experience 7–10 years of human resources and/or employee relations experience in both union and nonunion environments, specifically in advancing practices and policies designed to promote employee engagement and company values Demonstrated expertise in proactive labor relations, including union avoidance strategies, campaign planning and execution, and fostering positive employee engagement to mitigate organizing activity Skilled in developing and implementing communication plans, training programs, and leadership coaching to support a union-free philosophy while maintaining compliance and trust Demonstrated experience in driving effective employee relations interventions, including consultation, issue resolution, and investigations Proven ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all organizational levels, including during time-sensitive or high-pressure situations Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, sometimes on short notice Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in HR, Management, Business or a related field 10-15 years of significant labor and employee relations experience in a union environment Experience developing and facilitating training programs for HR and field leaders Proven ability to build trust, engagement and rapport with frontline employees Spoken and written bilingual skills (English/Spanish) About the Director, Employee Relations job
