Position Summary

Adjunct Faculty are scholars and professionals who teach in their area(s) of specialization and expertise. The primary affiliation of adjunct faculty is not with the university. Duties & Responsibilities

Facilitating classroom learning. Course and syllabus preparation. Class curriculum coordination and planning; assessment and evaluation of learners. Mentoring and advising students. Holding office hours and meeting with students. Research/scholarship mentoring and supervision. Specific Courses

Spring 2025 (Jan 13, 2025 – May 4, 2025): Issues in Chemical Dependency and Treatment (2 units). The course covers the treatment and prevention of problematic addictive behavior, and meets state requirements for chemical dependency education as established by California mental health licensing laws. Topics include definitions, etiology, physiological and medical aspects, pharmacology, diagnosis, risk populations, cultural considerations, prenatal and adolescent effects, geriatric considerations, iatrogenic dependency, treatment approaches, family involvement, referrals, community resources, ethical and legal issues, and prevention of substance abuse. Skills

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, high accuracy and attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to explain complex requirements clearly and concisely. Flexibility with workflow to meet department and student needs and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Ability to motivate, direct, hold candidates accountable and guide task completion. Team collaboration and ability to develop trusting relationships with students and university staff. Culturally humble with effective communication across diverse groups. Discretion and tact in interpersonal interactions and confidentiality. Collaboration with other university stakeholders to support candidate success. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Starting Salary and Work Details

Starting Salary: $36 hourly. Location: On Campus. Work Hours: Standard office hours, occasional evenings or weekends may be required depending upon course schedule. Travel: None. Minimum Requirements

Education:

Doctoral degree in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an accredited college or university. Experience:

Appropriate experience in the areas of specialization and expertise. This is an on-ground in-person program. Supervisory Responsibility:
