Stanford Jazz Workshop (SJW) is one of the nation’s premier jazz education and performance organizations, offering renowned summer programs, year-round classes, and the acclaimed Stanford Jazz Festival. We are a small but dynamic team dedicated to musical excellence, education, and community building. Position Summary

We are seeking a creative and strategic Marketing Manager to lead SJW’s marketing, communications, and outreach efforts. This role is ideal for a versatile professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, balances hands-on execution with strategic planning, and has a passion for arts education. The Marketing Manager is responsible for increasing awareness, engagement, and revenue through multi-channel marketing campaigns, content creation, and community outreach. This includes promoting our summer jazz education programs, year-round educational offerings, and concerts. Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

Develop and execute annual marketing plans and budgets for educational programs and jazz festival. Lead content creation for print and digital collateral: brochures, ads, web pages, newsletters, social media, and more. Direct the design and production of all marketing materials, working closely with designers, photographers, and vendors. Craft compelling messaging that reflects SJW’s mission and appeals to a broad range of audiences. Oversee email marketing, campaign calendars, and analytics to optimize performance. Collaborate with program staff and Festival Director on ticket pricing, sales projections, and audience strategies. Monitor and analyze sales data and marketing KPIs to inform decisions and improve ROI. Publicity & Promotion

Build and implement publicity strategies across earned, owned, and paid media. Write and distribute press releases and promotional materials. Cultivate relationships with journalists and community partners. Manage artist PR materials and promotional assets for Festival and educational events. Maintain and grow media contact and promotional databases. Digital & Online Presence

Serve as the day-to-day manager of the SJW website and social media channels. Maintain up-to-date web content, including program details, faculty bios, news, and event listings. Manage external web designers/developers as needed for larger projects. Produce and send regular email newsletters and campaign updates. Grow and engage audiences through targeted social media strategies. Recruitment & Outreach

Support summer and school year program enrollment efforts in collaboration with program staff. Educational Program Support

Promote year-round programs and end-of-semester concerts. Festival & Event Support

Coordinate marketing efforts related to the Stanford Jazz Festival, including ticket giveaways and guest list management. Help shape the audience experience through signage, program notes, and digital engagement. Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in marketing, preferably in arts, education, or nonprofit sectors. Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for compelling storytelling and design. Proficiency in digital marketing tools, including email marketing platforms, CMS (WordPress preferred), and social media management. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, Google Analytics, and basic HTML. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Passion for music, education, and community engagement. Graphic design or photo/video editing skills are a bonus. Work is a combination of remote and in-office, with required in-person at Stanford University during our summer programs and all school-year events.
