Overview
Centura Wealth Advisory is seeking a full-time Chief Investment Officer to join the Executive Leadership team. The CIO will help set strategic initiatives and foster an unmatched culture while leading the investment function for a registered investment advisory (RIA) serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. Location: Del Mar, with commutable distance or willingness to relocate. Develop and implement the firm’s overall investment philosophy and go‑to‑market strategy, aligned with the firm’s goals, client needs, and market opportunities. Lead the investment team in managing portfolios, overseeing research, analysis, portfolio construction, and execution across public and private markets. Oversee management of diversified portfolios across traditional asset classes (equities, fixed income, cash) and alternatives (private equity, private credit, real assets). Serve as the primary leader for investment due diligence, reinforcing a robust, multi‑stage due diligence framework for current and potential investments. Lead asset allocation decisions and rebalance portfolios to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks. Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and geopolitical developments to inform strategic and tactical investment choices and risk management. Communicate investment philosophy, strategies, and performance to clients, stakeholders, and the broader investment community via presentations, reports, and meetings. Collaborate with financial advisors, wealth managers, and other specialists to align investment management with comprehensive financial planning strategies. Establish and maintain relationships with external partners (fund managers, private market sponsors, custodians, investment consultants) to enhance offerings. Direct and oversee all trading activities and establish best‑execution policies and procedures. Oversee the organization’s investment risk management framework and ensure regulatory and fiduciary compliance. Mentor and develop investment professionals to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Represent the firm at industry events to enhance visibility and credibility. Other duties as assigned to support a high‑performing team environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of advanced investment principles, portfolio management techniques, and financial markets. Exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights. Extensive knowledge of asset classes with specialized experience in syndicated multifamily real estate, private equity, private credit, and other alternatives. Strong leadership and management abilities to guide teams toward strategic goals. Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and investment software; advanced Excel skills. Excellent verbal and written communication for clear articulation of concepts to clients and stakeholders. Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client confidentiality and ethics. Collaborative, initiative-driven, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to ongoing education and professional development in investment management. Minimum Qualifications
At least 18 years of age. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or Master’s preferred. 15+ years of experience in investment management or related field, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role. Advanced certifications such as CFA, CAIA, CFP, or equivalent strongly preferred. Extensive knowledge of financial markets, investment products, and portfolio management strategies. Proven track record managing ultra‑high‑net‑worth client portfolios and delivering tailored solutions. Experience in strategic planning, team leadership, and business development. Proficiency in investment analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. Must satisfactorily complete Centura Wealth Advisory hiring process requirements including background checks. Physical Requirements
Essential functions may require sitting, speaking, using hands, and occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Vision and depth perception suitable for computer use; manual dexterity for computer equipment. Mobility to work in an office setting with possible travel up to 10% and light to moderate lifting. Ability to sit at a computer for substantial periods and work in a typical open office environment with reasonable accommodations. Salary: $225K base + incentives + bonus
