The Annual Giving & Donor Relations Officer plays a key role in advancing Edesia’s strategic fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for planning and executing strategies to strengthen annual giving among donors contributing between $1,000 and $5,000, with a particular focus on cultivating and personally soliciting annual donors at the $1,000+ level. Reporting to the Chief Development & Global Sales Officer (CDGSO), the officer will lead a comprehensive direct appeals program, manage all aspects of donor acknowledgement, recognition, and communications, and ensure every supporter feels valued while deepening their connection to Edesia’s mission. A vital component of this role is identifying and engaging new prospects, expanding the pipeline of individual donors, and helping to secure sustainable contributions that advance the organization’s impact. Additionally, the officer will oversee inbound donor and informational inquiries, ensuring timely, thoughtful, and personalized responses. Success in this position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, sound strategic judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with professionalism and consistency. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Annual Giving Leadership and Participation Strategy and Execution [40%]: Grow dollars and donors at every level of participation and within the annual leadership giving pyramid ($1K-$25,000). Direct mail and email solicitation strategies and annual schedule. Annual giving social media strategy and executing an annual plan. Targeted LYBNT/SYBNT solicitation strategies to ensure strong donor retention. Deploying Edesia senior leadership, volunteers, and the rest of the fundraising team in targeted personal solicitation of annual donors at the $1,000 - $25,000 level. Analyze data to understand giving trends and inform/refine strategy; manage Mailchimp distribution lists and develop customized lists for targeted campaigns. Donor recognition, including the exploration of an annual giving society. Play an active role in personal solicitation of annual leadership gifts and writing grant/gift proposals. Donor and Community Relations [40%] Ensure timely and personal gift acknowledgment. Develop and ensure execution of communications and donor recognition that maximizes the sense of connection and impact felt by donors at all levels. Manage and ensure effective, timely follow-up on all inbound giving and community relations inquiries (web, email, phone). Responsible for ensuring gift fulfillment and reporting on directed/restricted NGO donations (with order delivery/logistics support from other Edesia colleagues). Process incoming donations from grant portals, complete necessary documentation, and develop customized receipts for unique gift types. Support expanded brand awareness of Edesia’s mission through plant tours, educational programs/presentations, and other projects/duties as assigned. Plan and execute donor engagement, recognition, and volunteer events (and other forms of volunteer engagement). Ensure accurate and up-to-date gift records and donor data are maintained in Fundraise and Salesforce; provide regular fundraising management reports. Provide high-level administrative and proposal writing support to the (CDGSO) [20%] Other Special Projects, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 6-8 years of professional experience in a fundraising, communications, marketing, and/or sales/business development organization. Minimum of four years of experience in direct fundraising, donor relations, sales/business development, or communications role. Strong written and oral communication skills required, as well as proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software and experience with fundraising/CRM systems. Design experience/ability a plus. Excellent organizational and project management skills are required, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Passion for Edesia’s mission and commitment to improving the lives of children around the world. Experience in Salesforce is a plus. Experience in a non-profit or humanitarian/social service organization is a plus. WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer etc. Some local/regional travel (within 2-3 hours) and evening and weekend work for special events or programs may be required from time to time.
