The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Supervising Transportation Engineer in the Public Works Department. In this role, you will serve as the City\'s technical expert in the traffic engineering field. You\'ll oversee administrative, technical, planning, and design work while ensuring contract compliance with specifications and engineering standards. The Supervising Transportation Engineer will address a variety of transportation issues, such as bicycle and automobile integration, the use of bike routes, alternative modes of transportation, traffic volume reduction techniques, traffic calming techniques, and intergovernmental jurisdictional conflicts. Current projects and opportunities in the Transportation Division include the MLK Jr Way Vision Zero Quick Build, Southside Complete Streets Project, and other projects associated with the City\'s safety, accessibility, and sustainability goals. Oversee administrative, technical, planning, and design work in the traffic engineering field. Ensure contract compliance with specifications and engineering standards. Address transportation issues including bicycle and automobile integration, bike routes, alternative modes of transportation, traffic volume reduction techniques, traffic calming techniques, and intergovernmental jurisdictional conflicts. Support current projects in the Transportation Division such as the MLK Jr Way Vision Zero Quick Build and the Southside Complete Streets Project. Minimum qualifications

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible professional traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Associate Transportation Engineer class. Possession of a

valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or professional Civil Engineer . California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer is preferred. Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record is required. Seniority level
