Trustpoint.One is pleased to assist a full-service, multi-practice law firm in its search for an Environmental Attorney. The Attorney will advise clients on environmental compliance obligations, create and review legal documents and manage and advise clients on legal transactions. The position offers hybrid flexibility in the Detroit, Troy, Ann Arbor, Lansing, or Grand Rapids offices.
Responsibilities
Advise on permitting, compliance, responding to enforcement actions, and remedial requirements
Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, discovery, contracts, regulatory agreements, and/or substantive environmental policy articles and commentary
Research environmental, land use, or administrative law and regulatory requirements at the federal, state and local level
Qualifications
Minimum 4-6+ years of experience in federal and state environmental and land use law
Substantial experience with CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA and Michigan NREPA equivalents and/or involvement in any areas of EHS support including compliance, transactional and litigation support
Experience representing public and/or private sector clients seeking to minimize the environmental liability risks associated with asset transfer, development, siting, operation and permitting (including industrial and waste facilities, wind, solar, energy storage, and natural gas facilities)
Experience representing public and/or private sector clients in other transactional matters involving environmental liability in business, including but not limited to hazardous waste cleanup and insurance
Experience representing clients in administrative or court hearings, associated motions practice, administrative record cases and/or non-record civil cases, drafting and responding to discovery requests with limited supervision, conducting and supervising document review and production, and taking or defending fact and expert witness depositions
Experience with solid and hazardous waste facilities is a plus
Admitted to the state bar of Michigan
High performer with organizational and project management skills
Excellent communication skills, oral and writing
Efficient, creative, and effective legal researcher
Proficient in the use of on-line legal research services and other available legal resources
Ability to manage new and existing client relationships
Active involvement in business development
