Overview: As a member of our engineering team, you will contribute to high performance power conversion, power management and controls. You will support product development activities, apply expertise to design, verification, validation, documentation, and testing of new products and components. About the Job You will work in the Engineering product design and development environment, analyzing design specifications and applying your engineering background to understand requirements, risks, and validation strategies to support development under senior engineering guidance. What You Will Do Design, modify and evaluate electronic circuitry, parts, and components for high voltage power supplies Design/modify standard Spellman HV power supplies per customer requirements, including schematics and circuit topologies Design verification to system requirements Plan and perform unit validation testing on power supplies Write and maintain technical documents such as acceptance test procedures, prototype documentation, and user interface manuals Support manufacturing staff with questions on new and existing products and procedures Work on new OEM high voltage DC power sources from design through verification, validation, testing and documentation Issue engineering change notices, deviations and design review reports based on failure analysis and customer feedback Support quality team on corrective and preventive actions and participate in internal audits Collaborate with cross-functional teams at other Spellman sites Work with technical drawings and schematics in AutoCAD, Altium, and P-CAD; issue changes as required Perform circuit simulations and modeling to support design trade-off studies with project leads and SMEs Occasionally travel to customer sites for technical product/application support Interface with peers to implement features described in product requirements Review and interpret internal and external customer requirements Communicate development updates, risks and timelines to the engineering management as required Who You Are BSEE or higher (MS preferred) 7+ years of experience designing switch-mode power supplies Hands-on experience with design verification and troubleshooting is a plus Experience with high voltage power supplies is a plus Good understanding of basic converter topologies Good understanding of analog circuits Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout Familiarity with digital electronics Ability to grasp technical topics and extract key issues and risks into actionable steps Well organized with strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to multitask Energy and enthusiasm, flexible and adaptable to change Self-motivated with problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn Compensation and Location
Our good faith estimate for this role is a salary range of
$143,000 – $161,000 , depending on education and years of experience. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package. This position requires on-site presence at Spellman headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. Relocation assistance is available.
