Your Opportunity The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Senior Project Engineer, Electrical guides the electrical technical design of data center projects as subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. Position delegates, leads, and directs work of Project Engineers and Designers. The role will conceptualize, execute, and ensure quality throughout the design process to meet our clients’ needs and expectations. The Senior Project Engineer will also have Supervisor and Mentor responsibilities for junior staff and be a resource to other project engineers. The data center industry is continually evolving, and this is an ideal opportunity for candidates who enjoy working on technically challenging projects that require cutting edge designs. Aside from the preferred locations listed, this position is open to any location with a Stantec office presence, for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations.
Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; finds and resolves all inconsistencies with project manager.
Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate.
Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority.
Builds and maintains strong client relations; able to understand and articulate project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff.
Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders as their trusted advisor, identifies key requirements, and adapts design accordingly to meet the project objectives.
Coordinates well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
Act as supervisor and resource to technical design team; supports and assists staff education, training, and development.
Participates in the data center engineering/professional community to stay current with new requirements and technologies and pursue professional growth (e.g., meetings, seminars, conferences, or articles).
Identifies opportunities to improve and standardize project deliverables across Stantec MCF business centers.
Contributes to development of design guides, technical memos, calculation templates, etc., as they pertain to data center design.
Capabilities and Credentials
Extensive experience in mission critical/data center design concepts.
Experience on large-scale projects with varied stakeholders.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems.
Strong communicator who conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients and teams.
Adept at writing comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
Proficient in applicable software (Autodesk, BIM 360, Revit, MS Excel); working knowledge of SKM and CYME/CYMCAP preferred.
Knowledge of construction processes and interaction with design; capable of independent problem solving and training others.
Education and Experience
Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 7 years related industry experience preferred.
Mission critical / data center experience required.
Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification as required.

Pay Range
Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $102,100.00 - Max Salary $153,200.00
Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $112,300.00 - Max Salary $168,500.00
Pay Transparency:
Pay ranges are provided where required by law. Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Some roles may be bonus eligible.
