Controls Engineer

Job Summary: Researches, plans, and designs electrical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties with a moderate level of proficiency. Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Researches and analyzes data such as vendor design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Designs automation systems that utilize, controls, robots, VFD devices, PID controlled devices and mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluid power, or heat transfer systems. Designs, programs, maintains and troubleshoots PLC controls for industrial manufacturing equipment. Designs, programs and maintains user interface for machines and systems. Designs systems that are compliant with all current environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, NEC, NFPA and Arc Flash. Produces and maintains wiring diagrams and schematics in AutoCAD. Reviews new designs for production ability, considering cost, quality, safety, delivery, production capabilities. Plans and directs engineering, maintenance, and production personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Directs and coordinates installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design, production and safety requirements. Coordinates operations, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment. Qualifications
Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Three to five years of experience in programming PLC and other control devices used in material handling and other heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.
