Overview
A growing traffic and transportation consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Signal Designer to lead complex signal design projects and oversee the delivery of innovative transportation solutions. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with project management and client leadership. Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and delivery of traffic signal projects for public and private clients Oversee preparation of signal design plans (wiring diagrams, phasing, timing, equipment specifications) Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality control across the full lifecycle Coordinate with roadway engineers, transportation planners, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution Conduct and review warrant analyses, control evaluations, and timing studies Ensure compliance with FDOT, MUTCD, and local standards Act as the primary client contact, developing relationships and ensuring responsiveness Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing across the team Support proposal writing, scoping, and business development activities Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering (or related) P.E. license in Florida (or ability to obtain within 6 months) 8+ years experience in traffic signal design, with at least 3 years in project/team management Strong expertise in signal operations, timing, and hardware/software systems Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, SIDRA, AGi32, or similar tools Familiarity with permitting processes and agency standards (FDOT, local MPOs, municipalities) Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
