Overview
Under general direction, leads and manages warranty recovery operations to maximize cost recovery and ensure compliance with OCTA Warranty department goals. Directly supervises, evaluates and supports the daily activities of section staff to ensure full compliance with OCTA and department goals, and to report on and improve warranty key performance indicators. Identifies and establishes short and long term goals for the warranty office. Develops and implements quality control processes and works with suppliers. Collaborates with various departments and suppliers such as bus maintenance, technical services, purchasing, bus manufacturers and outside service and repair centers. This is an exempt position in Salary Grade 205: Min $97,864.00 - Mid $116,896.00 - Max $135,928.00 annually. The starting salary will be within this range based on qualifications. Has the technical skills, product knowledge and professional skills to do the job. Develops, implements, and administers warranty procedures and policies for new vehicles and component parts. Investigates warranty status issues, and writes and distributes warranty alerts and activity reports. Enforces all warranty agreements, negotiating settlements, maximizing warranty recovery. Ensures all warranty contract terms and conditions are complied with. Represents the OCTA on disputes arising from warranty claims. Reviews, approves and records all warranty repairs. Coordinates, evaluates and supervises warranty staff. Trains assigned staff and other OCTA personnel on warranty processes and procedures. Ensures accurate reconciliation of vendor reimbursements related to parts and labor claims or manages reconciliation of funds received from vendor claims for parts and labor expenses. Tracks aging warranty claims and claim acknowledgements from vendors. Schedules and directs contractor engine repair technicians. Reviews and approves contractor invoices; labor, parts and travel time/mileage cost. Reviews maintenance work order tasks, analyzes trouble shooting results, deciphers warranty or non-warranty repairs, and scrutinizes contractor diagnostic reports. Initiates fleet defect notice, approves fleet defect corrective action plan, coordinates fleet warranty campaigns, provides campaign updates to maintenance/management and oversees off-site fleet repairs. Edits and analyzes data to track warrantable repairs or trends. Performs failure analysis and recommends corrective action. Develops and improves quality control processes and procedures. Develops, implements, and trains quality inspection practices. Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma with a minimum of eight years materials management and warranty related experience or a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or similar field with a minimum of four years related experience. Two years of previous lead experience is preferred. Working Conditions / Physical Activities
