ABOUT THIS POSITION

Over 52 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2024, one of the busiest airports in the country and in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact over $44 billion annually.

The Electronic Systems Specialist works as a Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) Specialist in Aviation Facilities. The Electronic Systems Specialist is responsible for the technical evaluation, troubleshooting, and repair of the airport wide systems and infrastructure that makes up the entire Baggage Handling System. The Baggage Handling group provides 20/7 technical field support and emergency response to internal and external customers. This position requires shift, weekend, and holiday work hours.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ability to manage time effectively in scheduling and performing service calls. Ability to perceive the full range of the color spectrum in working with LED's, color coded wires, etc. Ability to review and comprehend electrical schematics, technical specification, and construction drawings. Knowledge of NFPA 70e, and NEMA standards and requirements. Knowledge of Rockwell Automation, deployment and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley controls devices, panels, electronic hardware. Knowledge of FactoryTalk View SE HMI software development and deployment on a network. Knowledge and comprehension of programmable logic controllers, remote I/O cabinets, photo detection devices, electronic hardware, and VFDs. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and Project) and AutoCAD. Proficient use of SAP; building and running reports, tracking budgetary items, tracking work progress. SALARY

Pay Range: $34.25 to $45.89 per hour.

Hiring Range: $34.25 to $41.63 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of journey level experience in installation and maintenance of electronic and digital systems related to baggage handling or parcel systems. Associate's degree in electronics or related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted. Working conditions:

Moving objects weighing 50 pounds or more may be required. May be required to climb ladders or steps to reach objects and work at heights greater than twenty feet. Requires shift, weekend, and holiday work hours.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Two plus years of experience working with variable frequency drives. Two plus years or more experience managing and maintaining database virtual servers. Two years of experience reading, interpreting and working from prints, sketches, diagrams, etc. Three plus years of experience with programming and troubleshooting Baggage Handling Systems or Bulk Material Handling Conveyor Systems PLC's or SCADA controls. Experience working with LAN's, Wan's, and VPN's. Experience assessing, evaluating, troubleshooting, and repairing PLCs, HMIs or baggage handling control equipment. Experience with managing projects and contract management, collaborating, and coordinating with various internal/external technical workgroups. Technical level experience in programming specialized Allen-Bradley PLC equipment and devices involving baggage conveyor operations and maintenance. Experience in presenting and/or explaining technical information in a clear, logical, and non-technical manner such as providing user training. Experience enforcing technical requirements, regulation, and contract compliance. Degree in Electronics or Computer Science, highly desired.
