Description
Our Client, a leader in Building Automation Controls Systems is seeking a Building Controls Engineer. The purpose of this position is to deliver the startup, operation and execution for a multitude of N4/BAS projects. Engineers on this team use industry knowledge to deliver field level programming to implement and finalize projects. This role pays in the $145K range based on experience and location, includes a strong benefit program and requires travel across the US (See Details Below). Company headquarters are located in VA, but this role can be based at any location in the US and is "WORK FROM HOME" when not traveling to client locations.
The key to this role is solid experience with Tridium/Niagara (N4) software and strong ability to create control databases, user interfaces and perform setup of control systems based on project specifications and/or sales proposals. Engineers will act as subject matter experts within this discipline. Incumbents of this role will also:
Possess a thorough knowledge of the use, setup and operation of Windows-based computers and desktop applications such as MS-Word and MS-Excel. Use proficiency in reading BAS and MEP drawings to determine if the drawing and programming required will work together. Use Distech Controls. Perform field startup and system commissioning tasks. Provide on-site and remote technical support to installers and customers. Create programming logic using flow diagrams, sequences of operation, understanding panel layouts, termination details and project specifications or sales proposal. Program control applications using various software tools to support operator workstations, DDC field panels and third-party integration devices connected through multiple communications protocols. Deliver on-site and remote installation of software and control programs. Mentor junior Engineers. Interface with clients Perform job site system checkout, commissioning and testing of control applications to verify proper operation according to project specifications, sales proposal and design documentation. Develop system user interfaces, according to project specifications or sales proposal. Provide on-site and remote technical support to installers and customers. Act as the technical liaison between owner/construction managers. Deliver on-site and remote end user training for the use of the installed system. Perform advanced system analysis and diagnostics. Determine corrective action to restore systems to proper operating condition. Coordinates system installation with installing contractor at job site as required. QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years' experience in Building Automation Controls 6+ years Tridium Niagara 4 / Niagara AX Experience 6+ years Field Device Programming with Distech (preferred) or any of the following: Alerton / Schneider Electric / Johnson Controls / Siemens / Honeywell. Expert knowledge in 3 or more of the following CORE BAS Skills: Niagara 4 Software (must have), DGLux5 Software, Distech Controls Software, API Protocols, BACnet Protocol, Modbus Protocol, Lon Protocol. Knowledge of HVAC System Sequences including Rooftop / Air Handling / Central Plants Proficiency with desktop applications - MS-Word and MS-Excel.
TRAVEL INFO
This role requires travel at some degree but percentage varies both based on clients and the desire to deliver work/life balance. Travel percentage is proposed by "number of WEEKS." However, a "WEEK" can consist of Monday-Friday OR Monday-Tuesday (or through Wed/Thurs). This is based on project need, so 1-2 days or 5 days within a WEEK compromises a WEEK of Travel. In this role you CAN travel 26 weeks = 50% if desired, but may only travel at 13 weeks = 25%. If offered this role you will not be guaranteed an exact percentage, but you will be screened on the ability fall between 25%-50%. To assist with work/life balance no travel is planned over the weekends and travel schedules allow you to travel during the business day - M-F - as to not miss nights/weekends/mornings at home. To be considered for this role, you should expect travel somewhere between 12 and 26 weeks a year and 95% of the travel is "planned," meaning you will know in advance when and where you will be going. NOTE - this client also has international clients and, if you desire, you can elect to "sign-up" to service these clients which would consist of 2-3 weeks travel overseas.
