The Operations & Compliance Specialist is to project a positive, supportive, service-oriented image of the Student Nutrition Department, assisting with personnel support and overall management of training programs within the department. This position will ensure campus operations are compliant with local, state and federal regulations on all levels and in accordance with the Administrator's Reference Manual (ARM) for Child Nutrition programs, ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of the Student Nutrition Department
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree: Food & Nutrition or Hotel, Restaurant or Institutional Management preferred Food Manager's Certification required Credential as Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association preferred Valid TX Driver's License and ability to travel within the district daily Special Knowledge/Skills:
Good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills Effective organizational skills Strong presentation skills Knowledge and understanding of applicable state and federal laws, as well as Administrator's Reference Manual (ARM) for child nutrition programs Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, and controlling the production and service sub-system Experience:
Three years of successful management in food service, preferably multi-unit operations and school food service Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Demonstrate openness and willingness to improve the effectiveness of the department's operations Assist and support the efforts of all Student Nutrition staff with a positive attitude Communicate a positive image of the department Encourage positive morale among staff and promote team effort within each school and within the department Maintain positive working relationship with all school district staff and the community Oversee the staffing and personnel management of all cafeterias Conduct interviews with prospective employees, and submit recommendations to hire employees Attend district job fairs to recruit potential candidates for the department Work directly with supervisors to oversee the staffing and personnel management of all cafeterias, including the recommendation of campus staffing based on Meal Equivalents (MEQ) and Meals Per Labor Hour (MPLH) Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for campuses Coordinate with supervisors in the event of staff absences to allow for effective kitchen operations Assist supervisors to resolve all personnel issues, ensuring employee remediation, policies and procedures of the district are followed Work directly with the Accounting & Personnel Specialist to track absenteeism, long-term leave and worker compensation leave Track employee injuries and reports, review video and other documentation to improve safety and workplace conditions Develop, manage and oversee employee training programs and coordinate with department staff as needed Work directly with the Administrative Assistant to track training hours accordingly per USDA and district requirements Create and present department training content for campus-level staff Performs on-site training, as necessary Ensures in-house Food Handler Training is completed and track Certified Food Manager training Assists with employee handbooks, procedures, and training manuals on an annual basis and/or as needed Train and monitor field staff in programs, procedures and compliance systems Perform routine audits of data from the school and student database to verify validity of information Present at in-service programs and assist with the organization of such events Assume responsibility for enhancing personal skills and competencies through staff development, continuing education, etc Attain a minimum number of CE hours as required by TDA Initiate procedures to modify performance, as necessary, based on self-analysis and feedback Stay current with food trends as well as local, state and federal policies Keep Student Nutrition Director informed about the affairs of the Make daily journal entries on school observations, personal issues, problem resolves, training performed, Assist in the kitchens, concessions and catered functions as Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Student Nutrition Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluates performance of staff to include the Supervisors(s) and Non-Program Cafeteria Manager(s) Customer Care Skills:
Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times. Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others. Ability to process information quickly and accurately. Cognitive skills for organizing and planning tasks, processes, and instructional Subject to frequent interruptions and deadlines. High energy level required; ability to maintain contact with all school environments Ability to work in kitchen operations where needed in emergency situations Periodically in very hot and very cold situations in kitchens Requires travel throughout district on a frequent basis
Salary: Pay Grade PG02 Daily rate $345.27-$409.14 Commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule.
