What is Probate?
Probate is a legal process that involves distributing the assets of a decedent to their beneficiaries. These cases are filed as civil cases and include the following case types: Disposition of Personal Property without Administration; Summary Administration; Formal Administration; Caveats; Notice of Trust; Deposited Wills; Curatorship; Petition to Admit Foreign Will; and Trust Proceedings.
What is a guardian?
A guardian is a surrogate decision-maker appointed by the court to make either personal and/or financial decisions for a minor or for an adult with mental or physical disabilities.

Assists Court Specialist Lead and management team with quality control, overall departmental efficiency and procedural development, as needed; Assists judicial partners and general public in-person, over the phone, and via email; Reviews and analyzes all guardianship accounting, plans and inventories. Assists Court Specialist Lead and management team with quality control, overall departmental efficiency and procedural development, as needed; Assists judicial partners and general public in-person, over the phone, and via email; Performs complex data entry for docketing functions; creates entry for each document; monitors image for quality and clarity; Forwards Pro-Se filings to the Court; Adds and updates party/attorney information in the system; updates case status; Processes Judicial reassignments/recusals; updates system; issues notice of reassignment; notifies newly assigned Judge and parties/counsel of the change; Dockets Judge's Orders and performs further action if necessary; Processes incoming work from e-Filing portal, scanned batches or scan to case; Prioritizes work; focusing on emergency filings first; be able to multitask Perform necessary redactions; Process incoming/outgoing mail; Initiate new cases; issue and process summons and other documents; cashiers related fees; Transfers cases to other courts/venues; collects applicable fees; issues receipts for transfer to be completed/returned by receiving court/venue; Perform other related duties as requested by management in accordance with department business needs.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED), supplemented by five (5) years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Some vocational or college courses preferred. Once qualified, deputization may be required to perform the assigned functions.
