POSITION PURPOSE:

The Optical Engineer will play a key role in driving innovation, leading research and development, enhancing product development, representing Siemon at key industry standard bodies, and collaborating cross-functionally to expand our fiber optic expertise and technical fiber optic business objectives to maintain the company's competitive edge as a leader in the fiber optics connectivity market. This role requires a deep understanding of fiber optic systems and market dynamics, ensuring products and systems exceed customer requirements enabling profitable growth in the markets served by these systems and products.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or a related field (master's degree preferred) Minimum of 5 years in fiber optic research and development Experience with optical engineering and applications, with a strong grasp of fiber optic testing, performance benchmarking, equipment and methodologies, electrical and mechanical engineering and active optical signal integrity principles Knowledge of fiber optic manufacturing processes and product design for connectors and cables and optical sub-assemblies Strong Understanding of Physics and Optics in the context of optical fiber networking, both structured cabling and high-speed interconnects used in data center and enterprise applications. Strong understanding of optical transceiver technologies, co-packaged optics & silicon photonics Thorough understanding of related industry standards, test methods, environmental testing and quality requirements Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively Strong leadership skills with excellent decision-making abilities
