Locums - Pediatric Hospitalist Location: Fort Myers, Florida Assignment Overview
  • Start Date: December 1, 2025

  • Duration: Ongoing (coverage needed through December, possibly January)

  • Shifts:

  • Days: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

  • Nights: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

  • Coverage needed 7 days per week

  • Call Structure: 12-hour or 24-hour call coverage depending on schedule

    Clinical Setting
    • Inpatient pediatric floor only

    • No NICU or newborn nursery responsibilities

    • Average of 26 newborns per day on service (excluded from locum responsibilities)

    • Level I Nursery

    • 36 Med/Surg beds within GCHSWF

    • 70 NICU beds (NICU handled by dedicated team)

    • Current team: 6 physicians; hiring for 3 more (goal: 9 total)

    • Two experienced NPs (one in nursery, one on pediatric floor, each with 25+ years of experience)

    Role Responsibilities
    • Rounding on general pediatric patients

    • Performing admissions

    • Coordinating with pediatric subspecialists

    • Must be proficient and independent in lumbar punctures

    Requirements
    • Board Certified in Pediatrics - Required

    • Active Florida Medical License - Required

    • NICA Membership/Receipts - Required

    • BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) - Required

    • NPDB report (within last 3 months) - Required

    • Current CV - Required

    • Case Logs:

    • Must include 24 inpatient records from the past 12 months

    • Logs must be from a primary source (no personal logs)

    • Preferably include patient ages

    Additional Notes
    • December coverage is a top priority

    • Flexibility to cover days, nights, and weekends is highly valued
