Overview
Vice President Construction - Telecom Network The Vice President of Construction will oversee all aspects of construction project execution and delivery, ensuring operational excellence in our construction project services for fiber optic networks and other utility infrastructure. This individual will build and lead the Construction Office, drive the implementation of best practices, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the COO, the VP will drive strategic initiatives, optimize operations, and lead a high-performing team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with industry standards. Responsibilities
Act as the companys primary representative in all client interactions, ensuring professionalism and alignment with project goals. Collaborate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, regulatory / government offices and vendors to address and resolve project-related issues. Lead efforts in building project RFPs and other preliminary project pricing and bidding models. In collaboration with others develop and pursue leads for new customers and business development. Standardize processes across the entire Construction organization to build the PMO (Project Management Office). Build, mentor, and lead a team of project managers, site supervisors, and support staff. Leverage technology to streamline project tracking, reporting, and resource allocation. Review project progress, identify productivity challenges, and implement proactive solutions. Approve and monitor work plans, packages, and project schedules to ensure timely completion. Support and enforce the site quality plan, ensuring all inspections and documentation are completed on schedule and prepared for final turnover. Lead the implementation and enforcement of safety standards on job sites. In collaboration with the Head of Field Operations, oversee procurement schedules, material deliveries, and inventory management to avoid delays. Drive project controls, such as productivity tracking, equipment scheduling, and risk management. Oversee project budget conversion, cost forecasting, and cashflow management. Negotiate and approve change orders, ensuring contract compliance and financial alignment. Maintain detailed project records, correspondence, and daily reporting. Develop and maintain master project schedules, ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term objectives. Support talent acquisition and resource planning by working with Human Resources to staff projects effectively. Provide mentorship and leadership to direct reports, fostering professional development and teamwork. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of multiple fiber optic and other utility construction projects, from initiation to closeout. Ensure all projects meet scope, budget, and schedule requirements. Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges proactively. Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent field / work experience. Experience: Experience working and leading the field construction/engineering function in the cable/communication business (10+ years), management of annual budget preparation and implementation (8 years), senior level management experience (10+ years). Proven expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, specifically in telecommunications and fiber optic construction (FTTH, OSP). Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile). Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Construction software and tools. Knowledge of all FCC compliance reports and other rules and regulations, a comprehensive understanding of applicable local and state rules and regulations; Comprehensive understanding of OSHA rules and regulations, both federal and state; Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code Benefits
