The Finance & Grants Management Director leads a team that manages the life cycle of the organization’s donor and partner agreements, and supports budgeting and reporting to the Board. The Director partners with program and executive leadership to drive value through project performance and provides timely financial information for informed decision-making at all levels. Principal Responsibilities
Manage the organization’s financial management and grants administration processes, and identify and deliver automation for compliance and customer service. Financial Planning & Analysis
With the CFO, manage the budget and forecasting processes to ensure reliable financial performance; provide analysis and advice on funding allocation to meet strategic priorities. Generate and publish timely monthly financial performance reports at the grant, program, region, division, and organizational levels. Conduct quarterly financial review and forecasting sessions to gain insights on financial performance. Prepare key visuals for executive and Board presentations on financial forecasting and performance. Manage the financial planning tool, Solver. Grants Finance & Administration
Collaborate with Conservation and Advancement staff to manage foundation, federal, and state grant funds, including proposal budgets and tracking of grant funds. Provide expertise on grant compliance and interpretation of OMB Circulars and applicable regulations; translate requirements into operational policies. Monitor expenses to guard against unallowable costs and ensure funding is spent per grant terms and deadlines. Understand internal controls, audit objectives, allowable/unallowable costs, and standard methodologies. Assist program managers in complying with grant financial and program requirements; track remaining funds and communicate fund balances and spend-down plans; prepare internal and external fiscal reports. Oversee financial reporting for foundation and government grants, including federal/state forms, draws, and reimbursement requests. Oversee invoicing for professional services contracts and other reimbursement-based grants. Lead development of grant proposal budgets for new awards. Coordinate with Legal on sub-grant agreements for prime grantor compliance and financial reporting. Review and monitor sub-grantees and consultants to ensure adherence to policies and reporting. Act as liaison to auditors regarding federal grant awards. Manage accounts and login credentials for government portals and ensure documentation is updated. Establish Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement for federal funder approval. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business. Minimum 9 years of relevant experience including management of federal grants, sub-grants, and audits under the Uniform Guidance. Knowledge of GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, indirect cost rate development, and other federal grant regulations. Expertise with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with accounting tools, Sage Intacct and Solver preferred. Ability to lead a team toward results with a high level of customer service. Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and timelines; ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data. Ability to work with diverse personalities and working styles at all levels. Team player with ability to collaborate to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team. Salary range: $120,000 - $135,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive Total Rewards package including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance. 3% employer contribution after one year of service; 100% vesting for contributions.
