Overview
The Village of Gurnee is seeking an experienced and collaborative professional to serve as the Assistant Community Development Director. This key leadership role supports the Director in planning, organizing, and managing a wide range of community development activities including planning, zoning, development engineering, economic development, building safety and code enforcement. Assist in the oversight and administration of the Community Development Department Support long-range and current planning efforts, including comprehensive plan updates, zoning ordinances, and land use agreements Coordinate and review development proposals for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and planning principles Collaborate with business owners, developers, residents, and community groups to promote economic development and revitalization initiatives Assist in the preparation and administration of grants, including federal and state funding Supervise and mentor department staff Coordinate interdepartmental projects and consultant work Prepare and present reports to the Planning and Zoning Board and Village Board Serve as acting Director in the Director's absence Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $133,673-162,480. Starting Salary range $133,673-$147,374 annually depending on qualifications. Plus, a generous benefit package including health, dental, and vision benefits, employer-paid life insurance and other ancillary benefit options. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), retirement health savings plan through Mission Square with bi-weekly Village contributions along with the option to participate in a 457(b) deferred compensation plan. Paid time off and tuition reimbursement assistance. Work Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person 40-hour per week, exempt position. Work hours are Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM 4:00 PM. Flexibility is required, as evening hours will be required to attend board meetings. Education/Experience
