The Project Engineer will provide geotechnical support, inspections, and materials testing. We are seeking an experienced field professional to perform and oversee earthwork inspections and testing, with the opportunity to grow into a project management and office leadership role. While this position may start in the field, we are especially interested in candidates who are motivated to take on broader responsibilities, including client management and team leadership. This role supports the geotechnical and construction quality assurance teams by performing field and laboratory testing, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Typical duties include full-time field testing and inspection services on active construction projects. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic construction environment. Duties
Planning, scheduling, and conducting construction observations/inspections, geotechnical field investigations, and geotechnical laboratory testing. Attention to detail with construction observations/inspections, data collection, data management, and record-keeping. Conduct geotechnical investigations, including test pits, borings, DCP testing, and sampling. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues in the field. Maintain proper use, storage, and calibration of field and laboratory equipment (e.g., nuclear density gauge). Ensure compliance with site safety requirements and company protocols. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to accommodate occasional overnight travel within the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. Education/Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related fields (with geotechnical engineering and/or engineering geology coursework) Minimum 2 years’ experience with deep foundations (steel pipe piles, steel sheet piles, steel H-piles, precast/prestressed concrete piles, auger cast-in-place piles, drilled concrete piers and shafts, secant piles, stone columns, predrilling, load testing) U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S. Ability to work on federal military installation sites Valid Driver’s License Must pass background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company\'s driving (MVR) policy Strong written and verbal communication skills Certifications/Licenses
At least one of the following requirements must be met for this position: NICET Soils Technician Level II Certificate in Construction Material Testing Geologist-In-Training or Engineer-In-Training with three years of related experience Registered Professional Engineer with related experience Equal Opportunity
