Process And Control Automation Engineer III

The Process And Control Automation Engineer III will be responsible for supporting SCR's automation design and startup initiatives. This person will collaborate across functions and work to transfer knowledge to SCR customers through training, discussions, presentations, and startup assistance. Key responsibilities include: Develop, design, maintain, and commission automation and control systems for industrial equipment. Design and program logic for PLCs, drive systems, and combustion control systems. Develop SCADA and operator interface applications. Design databases and write custom computer programs for PLC and SCADA system interface. Apply standard procedures to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnose and resolve issues. Create project manuals and electrical schematics using CAD. Develop scope of work, cost estimates, and budgets for electrical systems. Develop an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of SCR systems such as fluid systems, operations, metallurgy, maintenance, material handling, furnace systems, and hands on machine operation. Lead on-site commissioning of all parts of an SCR system. Transfer know-how to SCR customers through training, discussions, presentations, and startup assistance. Required education and experience: Minimum education level: Bachelor's Specialized degree: Electrical Engineering or related engineering field Years of experience: 7+ Field of expertise: Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC and drive experience, CAD experience with AutoCAD, SCADA system and HMI application experience, computer programming, networking, database, and reporting skills. Preferred education and experience: Minimum education level: Bachelor's Specialized degree: Electrical Engineering Years of experience: 10+ Preferred field of expertise: Autocad, PLC programming, drives, controls, combustion Other preferred skills, licenses, and certificates: Molten metal processing This role reports to the Engineering Manager and does not manage Southwire team members. The scope is single location with up to 25% international travel and a hybrid workplace setting (2-3 days a week on site). Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 25 lbs, driving, standing, sitting, and walking. Working conditions include office, plant floor, and extreme heat/cold. Required equipment includes a computer/keyboard, safety glasses, safety shoes, and a hard hat.
