Job Description Summary This position is responsible for overseeing the allergy and immunization clinic related to the clinical operations of the University Health Center. This position has assumed a variety of additional duties including clinic management, education and training and supervising associated staff and student workers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinic Management: -Maintains daily Immunization schedule -Maintains daily Allergy Immunotherapy daily schedule, including administration of serum and collaboration with outside allergists -Vaccine management - daily monitoring of refrigerator(s) and freezer logs -Organizes Influenza and other unit specific campus wide vaccine initiatives -Maintains UHC Allergy, Travel and Immunization website -Orders vaccines and tracks vaccination orders including vaccine returns -Provides monthly vaccine reports and annual vaccine price change reports -Maintains vendor contracts (vaccines) -Partner with PG Health Department ordering latent TB treatment medications, keeping logs to track patients and maintain TB surveillance compliance -Order new equipment as applicable

Education and training -Provides immunization, allergy and travel training to all new hire RNs and CMAs -Provides immunization, allergy, and travel immunization educational guidance to UHC providers -Maintains all Immunization protocols and procedures, monitoring for CDC changes and staying up to date with all compliance and new initiatives

Supervision -Supervises allergy, travel and immunization staff and student workers as applicable -Provides immunization administration training and guidance to UHC providers, nurses and Medical Assistants. -Provides travel medicine guidance and support to UHC providers. -Maintains UHC Allergy and Travel clinic website. -Organizes and promotes various UHC Influenza initiatives throughout the UMD community. -Supervises allergy and immunization staff and student workers as applicable.

In accordance with guidelines and protocols of the University Health Center, utilize nursing skills and knowledge to provide general nursing care that meets the needs of patients and health providers. Utilize knowledge of coding rules to accurately document care in the electronic medical record. Arrange acquisition of insurance pre-authorizations or pre-certifications when needed. This position is essential for health-related University emergencies.

Preferences: BSN, BA or training from an accredited nursing program, from a four-year college or university, or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed with the Maryland State Board of Nurses. Comprehensive knowledge of patient assessment, education, treatments, and understanding related factors. 3 years of nursing practice experience.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use fine motor skills, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, there is a risk of exposure to communicable diseases.

Licenses/ Certifications: Maintain yearly renewal of Maryland State Board of Nursing licensure. Maintain CPR Certification. ACLS Certification Preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional health or medical-related program management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of business acumen to understand key business drivers, organizational communications, and data.

Knowledge of organizational and unit performances measures.

Knowledge of the impact and implications of decisions on leadership objectives.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Skill in data analytics and negotiation.

Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.

Skill in the use of Electronic Health Records systems.

Ability to research information and analyze/synthesize complex data and information to create reports and presentations with valid conclusions derived from various sources.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.

Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.

Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
