The Cost Engineer will record and report work progress and use of materials on site. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting. Responsibilities Take note of progress on weekly basis of work performed in the field Calculate productivity and progress weekly and submit reports to the client Keep track of quantities installed (concrete, pipe, etc.) Submit change orders for additional work scope Update plot plans as needed Write and submit requests for information (RFI) Assist other workers as needed Qualifications Physical requirements Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Hearing and comprehension are necessary for giving and receiving directions Perform sedentary to heavy work Operate office equipment of all types Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects regularly Perform prolonged bending, twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting, or standing, and lifting Manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, and multi-floor buildings without elevators Walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, soft sand, etc. Be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) Have close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed Mental requirements Effective communication with management and supervision Reading, writing, and comprehension skills necessary for work instructions and safety policies Ability to perform math calculations Work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions Decision-making skills Attention to detail; ability to observe and examine details carefully
