Description
SUMMARY The Die Repairman is responsible for maintaining forge dies via SAP locations, cleaning, repairing, and polishing forge dies after the forging process, as well as checking shanks, dirt grooves, and impressions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Repair dies damaged during the forging process. Weld dies and forging tools using standard welding procedures. Use drawings, templates, and gauges to verify repairs. Perform die polishing using hand tools and grinders, including caulking, chipping, scraping, filing, grinding, and polishing. Stamp numbers or letters on dies as per drawing or specifications. Maintain die work orders in SAP, including creation and closure. Communicate die status and location verbally and in writing, including daily reporting and moving dies as needed. Conduct semi-annual inventory of all dies, maintaining records in Excel/SharePoint. Track die inventory, location, quantity, and condition accurately. Maintain the cast library, updating locations and removing obsolete casts. Perform general lift truck duties, including retrieving, delivering, and transporting dies and supplies. Observe waste levels and remove scrap as needed. Assist with die coordination in the forge. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, and communicate effectively with others. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic math, interpret blueprints, and calculate rates and ratios. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand, handle, reach; frequently walk, climb; occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch; lift up to 75 pounds. Visual acuity required. WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, humidity, fumes, and airborne particles. Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, electrical shock, and vibration.
