Directs and leads the Pep Band: rehearses and performs with the band; selects and acquires or arranges engaging music; provides charts and, when applicable, recordings to students; teaches this music during weekly rehearsals (approximately 3 hours).
Performs with students at multiple athletic events each semester (average 1 event per week); specific dates are determined one semester prior in coordination with the Performing Arts Chair and Athletic Director.
Organizes opportunities for master classes or guest directors at least once per semester in coordination with the manager.
Assists with the curriculum development of the band.
Organizes and performs administrative tasks related to the band: arranges weekly rehearsals; coordinates sports appearances and performance opportunities; maintains band operations and an archive of band activity (photos, videos, press clips); maintains liaison with other scholastic bands and directors; attends Performing Arts Department meetings; works closely with athletic department, dance, and cheer coaches to coordinate performances and events; ensures timely processing and payment of vendor invoices and service contracts.
Recruits students and possibly staff/faculty members; assists with Admissions Office and Performing Arts Department recruiting events; assists in publicizing band events through press releases and other means.

Terminal degree in music or related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in band leadership or music direction
Demonstrated experience as an established band musician and leader
Familiarity with band styles including marching bands, alternative bands, “scramble bands,” and pep bands
Flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals and performances, including evenings and weekends
Proven ability to develop and grow a campus-based band program with a clear artistic and organizational vision
Teaching experience in higher education or equivalent instructional setting preferred
Ability to lift and transport up to thirty pounds
