Primary Responsibility / Summary Supports the Distribution Supervisor in overseeing daily transportation and warehouse operations, specifically supervising Class A and bobtail drivers. Ensures timely and safe delivery, loading, and unloading of goods while maintaining accurate inventory and shipping records. Acts as a working lead, capable of operating a bobtail truck as needed, and performs a variety of material handling and logistics tasks to ensure efficient department operations. Promotes safety, service excellence, and productivity across the team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides day-to-day functional leadership and direction to Class A and bobtail drivers to ensure route completion, safety compliance, and customer service standards are met. Monitors and communicates daily performance goals and productivity standards; leads daily start-up meetings and shift handovers. Supports route coordination, trailer loading/unloading, and dispatch planning to meet delivery schedules. Loads, secures, and unloads goods in accordance with manifests; monitors for damaged product and ensures proper handling or disposal. Maintains a clean and organized work environment by performing routine housekeeping and enforcing established safety protocols. Ensures all team members follow proper safety procedures and use equipment correctly; reports any hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors. Operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, stack, bale, or dispose of goods and materials. Performs daily equipment inspections and ensures safe, efficient operation of all tools and machinery. Provides training and support to drivers on procedures, safety practices, and customer service expectations. Drives a bobtail truck as needed to support operations, cover absences, or complete deliveries. Data entry – Incoming, closures, manifests, EOD, Equiptment notifications, work orders, outbound, monthly mileage, monthly fuel log, matrix adjustments. Training manager, incident/accident reports Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for up to 8 hours per day. May require local travel; valid CA driver’s license and state-required insurance are required. Driving record must meet company insurance standards. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides functional leadership and day-to-day oversight to Class A and bobtail drivers, including task delegation, productivity monitoring, and coaching. Participates in training, feedback, and issue resolution, in coordination with the Supervisor. Education & Experience Minimum of 2 years of transportation or warehouse operations experience; previous experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred. Must have at least 1 year of air brakes experience. Forklift certification required; strong material handling and equipment operation skills essential. High school diploma or GED required. Experience operating bobtail trucks required; familiarity with Class A driver operations a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills.
